My Mum:)

Do you know what always makes me feel better? Talking to my mum on the phone! Talking to her in person is good too but most times after I've talked to her on the phone I don't feel so worried about things. I guess that's what mums are for. Just thought I'd share. Night-night.

Good-bye Bella & Edward:(

I'm done. On Sunday night I finally finished Breaking Dawn! No more Bella and Edward or that pesky werewolf. It took me a while but in a way I'm glad I'm finished. I really enjoyed them but now I can get stuck into The Lovely Bones (which I've already started:))  Hope it's a good one! CAB watched the movie and said it was good but a bit weird. I'll wait and see.

In other news Mum came home yesterday and she's doing really well. She's staying at Monica's for a few days and then coming here. I'm really glad she's staying with a family that really cares for her:)

Recovering

Mum's operation went well and she is ahead of schedule on the recovery front. We have to wait a few more days for results so hopefully there will be no further treatment needed. While Mum was having her op my sister MK and I went for a walk around Prahran. It was fun. I hadn't been there since my days in college so it was good to come across some shops I'd visited before and some new ones I'd only seen on the web. I was saying to MK while we were walking that I wished I could remember where the Chapel Street Bazaar was. Well a few minutes later what did she spy across the road? There it was-just as I remembered it. I was wrapped. When I got in there I didn't know where to look. They have so much stuff. I could spend all day in there. We didn't have much time so I will definitely be going back there soon.

We also came across a shop called Portobello Lane that has a lot of cool jewellery featuring birds and owls among other things.

Aren't they gorgeous? I'm not a big jewellery wearer but these are hard to resist. Anyway-time for bed:0 I'll share some photos of our day in Prahran and some more links soon. Night-night.

Operation:(

My mum is going in to hospital tomorrow for an operation. I'm a bit freaked out but I'm positive that everything will turn out fine. I want to send her a big hug and a big, beautiful bunch of flowers just like these:)

Katrina Cottages

I was just flipping through a magazine (how unusual) when I came across an article about Katrina Cottages. These are affordable cottages that have been designed by a group of architects for people who lost their homes to Hurricane Katrina.
design by Marianne Cusato

Aren't they gorgeous? I would love to live in a house that looked like this. They are expandable, sturdy and pretty much hurricane proof (not that we need to worry about that here in Oz). I just love the look of them. The Lowe's Department store in the U.S. are now selling the plans and all the materials needed to build a cottage just like this. This looks just like the home I've been dreaming of....:)

I did it!!!

Well I actually did it. I manged to post every day for a week and even twice on one day. That's pretty good for me. This is FUN:] This is just the beginning and I hope I can keep it up. I may not post every day but that's ok. I'm sure I can manage a few posts each week. There are no rules! I am obsessed:> -but it's a good obsession. In relation to another one of my obsessions-movies-I have just watched New Moon. Yes another Twilight fan (not a diehard one). I didn't like the first movie that much but this one was definitely better although I did have to put up with CAB asking me questions nearly all the way through it. Ahhhhh! Just because I've read the book doesn't mean I want to retell it during the movie. At the moment I have almost finished Breaking Dawn. I got through all the other books pretty quickly but this one I put down for a while and have only just started reading again. Can't wait to finish it. I'll miss Edward & Bella. It feels like I've been with them for ages -which I have. But now it's time to move on to something new. I really want to read The Lovely Bones. I've had the book for a while and now the movie is out I want to read it before I see it. Take a peek at the trailer-night night:)

2 Years!!!

I just realised last night that on the 10th of May we had been in our home for 2 years! I really like this place. Even though it's a rental and it's small with a tiny backyard it is cosy and I 'm trying to find some op shop pieces and furniture to add to it's cosiness. I need to find a hutch or buffet or something that would fit nicely next to my dining table. I've been scouring the local op shops and the cool site Gumtree. It's like an online trading post which has heaps of great stuff. Hopefully I will find something soon. In the meantime a girl can dream......
I just found these cool pieces on a site called Indigo Junction. Go and have a look if you like retro stuff. It has a lot of awesome furniture.
Anywho it's time for bed. I'll share some pics from our cosy little home soon:)

The Design Files

Good evening! I mentioned in last nights blog that I was obsessed with home decorating mags-well I'm also obsessed with home decorating blogs. While I was browsing last night I came across this cool blog The Design Files. It has photos of the interiors of homes taken by an Aussie girl named Lucy. I love taking a peek inside peoples homes and trying to figure out things about them and what they are like and Lucy's photos let you do just that.
Here's a peek inside Leila Sanderson's Melbourne home. I love this shot of the entrance as the mirror on the wall is like the one I bought at the Salvo's just recently.
There is also a link which you might like if you are crafty. A Californian website called NoteMaker has some cool rubber stamps and decorative masking tape. Take a look at it and enjoy:)
